Found in Narino Colombia and Ecuador in cloud forests at elevations of 1200 to 2500 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with stout, erect, ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 , loose, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, thinly coriaceous, carinate, narrowly elliptic, acute, gradually narrowing below into the conduplicate, subpetiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall on an short, slender, purplish, suberect to horizontal, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul and carrying several bracts and tubular floral bracts.
