A triennial plant that in its first and second year forms a rosette to 60cm across, composed of rough, lance-shaped leaves. In its third summer it throws up a huge (3m) flower spike, densely packed with thousands of small white flowers; these are irrisistible to bees
 
Supplied in a 11cm pot, at a height of 30 - 40cm ready to grow on in the ground, now in their second year.

    Plant out as small plants in a well-drained sheltered spot, or a large container that may be taken in during the winter in severe frost.
