Lobelia bambuseti – Giant Forest Lobelia

A rare unusual Echium like structure which supports a apical crown of large leaves with a conspicuous red/pink/purple midrib. Its upright, monocarpic flower can reach 7 to 8m high.

Lobelia bambuseti is native to the cloud forests of Kenya at around 2600 to 3000 m elevation.

In cultivation it will do well in a subtropical style garden in the UK of temperatures between 10c and 25c over summer. Plant like Fuchsia Boliviana, part shade dappled light, rich soil, keeping soil in the shade.

The native range of this species is Kenya (Mountains). It is a herbaceous tree and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.

Supplied as a small plant in a 11cm at a height of 20 to 30 cm
